Reflection · 4 minutes

What is your anger actually telling you?

Anger is rarely the first feeling. It's usually the bodyguard standing in front of something older and softer.

Answer for the version of you that no one else gets to see. This isn't about judgement. It's about honesty.

Question 1 of 100% complete

Reflect honestly

I notice irritation, frustration or anger most days.

What this reflection looks at

Notice the shape of your anger. Where it lives, what triggers it, what it covers, and what it's costing. There are 10 statements, and it takes most men about 4 minutes. Nothing is scored against anyone else, and nothing here is a diagnosis. It's a way of putting language to patterns you've probably been carrying without naming.

Questions worth sitting with

You'll be offered these again at the end, alongside your results. Some men find it useful to read them first, slowly, before answering anything.

  • What does your anger usually arrive to protect?
  • Where in your body does anger live first?
  • What did you learn. Directly or by absence. About how a man holds his anger?
  • If your anger could speak in a softer voice, what would it actually be asking for?

How to use what comes back

Anger isn't the problem. Unmet anger is. The work isn't to silence it. It's to listen to it long enough that it doesn't need to shout.

This is a self-reflection tool, not a clinical assessment, and it doesn't replace medical, psychological or legal support. If what surfaces feels heavier than you expected, that's not a failure of the reflection. It's usually the most useful thing it could have done. Take it to someone: a coach, a therapist, your GP, or a man you trust. If you're in crisis in the UK, Samaritans are on 116 123, free, any hour of the night.
