Safeguarding

Safeguarding Policy

MendCoaching takes safeguarding seriously. This page sets out what that means in practice, for adults at risk, for children, and for the limits of confidentiality.

Confidentiality

What stays between us

Everything shared in sessions is treated as confidential. Notes are held securely and never shared without your consent, except where confidentiality must be broken to keep you or someone else safe.

The limits of confidentiality

When I have to act

As a trauma-informed practitioner, I will take action, including, where necessary, contacting emergency services or relevant statutory bodies, if I believe:

  • You are at imminent risk of serious harm to yourself.
  • You are at imminent risk of serious harm from someone else.
  • A child or vulnerable adult is at risk of harm.
  • There is disclosure of an act of terrorism or serious crime.

Wherever possible, I will discuss this with you first.

Concerns about practice

If something doesn't feel right

If you have a concern about my practice or conduct, please raise it with me directly at jaymes@mendcoaching.co.uk. If you would prefer to escalate independently, you can contact the relevant professional body or, in serious cases, local safeguarding authorities.

In crisis

If you need help right now

MendCoaching is not a crisis service. If you’re in immediate danger:

  • 999, emergency
  • NHS 111 (option 2), urgent mental health
  • Samaritans 116 123, 24/7, free
  • Shout, text 85258, 24/7 text support
