Relationships
Why can't I trust people?
Trust is a nervous-system response before it is a decision. If trust has been broken early or often, the body learns to brace.
If trust was repeatedly broken. By a parent, a partner, an institution. Your system learned to scan for the next betrayal. That is not a character flaw. It is a survival adaptation.
Rebuilding trust isn't about forcing yourself to be open. It's about slowly teaching your nervous system that safety is possible. First inside yourself, then with carefully chosen others.
